Transformer Design Optimization (TOPT) is a non-linear optimization program that uses sophisticated mathematical routines to develop the best combination of materials to minimize cost, weight or size of a transformer. It is used when the designer has complete freedom to change core dimensions. Results from TOPT can be imported to TRANS to produce a practical design close to the true optimum.

TOPT is used for:
- Cost Minimization
- Weight Minimization
- Loss Evaluation Designing
- Size Constrained Applications
- NEMA-TP1 / Department of Energy (DOE) Standard Efficiency
